Lots of things to say here and my perspective is from a coach staying in the barracks. The fields are groomed well, there are still lips between infield and out field and there is some strange leveling around first base and second causing slides to come up short at second. There will be rain so be prepared for rain delayed games. It was great to play teams from all over. As you would expect food will be marginal but use the seasoning station, hot sauce makes things better. There are coaches shower and restroom areas that I would recommend finding the first day and using. The kids area will be gross either way try to go off hours to get some warm water.
Few suggestions for cdp
- make batting cage roof higher. It is low and close to metal poles on the side so can be dangerous.
- would be great to have infield only for fielding so players can get used to the dirt.
- snack bars were out of things like hamburger buns, we had complaints from our fans.
The food they serve to the players, coaches, and umpires is less than good. Same menu everyday for lunch. The fields were mostly dusty, and with the wind, that wasn't ideal. Things have change a lot since the founder passed...not for the better.
Liked the park and liked the concept As a parent, I felt we could have got more info (altho maybe it was given to the coach and not passed on, idk). Things like games could start earlier than posted, barrack check in/out rules, closing ceremony details. I also hoped more info would be available on the app.
Kids had a great time and we enjoyed the games. Loved having a reason to go to Cooperstown too.
I was a player here at age 12. I was a umpire here at age 32. I loved every moment of both trips. God bless y'all, baseball and area 51!
An unbelievable chance for your 12 year old baseball player to create memories for a lifetime. The park is amazing and the tournament is well organized. A truly unforgettable experience. one tough part is the initial drop off. We sat in probably an hour and a half of traffic. Not much you can do. It's such a small town. One other note, my son said the food they serve the players and coaches is pretty bad. Make sure you give your players and coaches good, protein rich snacks to keep in the barracks with them.
Once in a lifetime for a 12 year old baseball player. Literally a 200 foot fence version of playing in the Bigs. Ball fields are meticulously maintained and kids “camp” with their coaches for the week of a tournament they will remember for the rest of their lives.
A Great baseball experience ONLY when you 12yr old. My oldest did the ALL STAR VILLAGE 8YRS AGO. Now the youngest in THE O.G. DREAM PARK. We were the CHAMPIONS on week 10. Aslo my son was the pitcher.
But if you have the apportunity for you kid to make it. Done it 100%. Memories the will remember for ever. Only a 3 hr drive to N.Y. city. And plenty of thing to see around. The Pizza place across the Park is great.
From a Parent
- Facilities are amazing and vast. 5 stars
- Staff is friendly and helpful - 5 stars
- Food is awful for kids and coaches. If you have a night game good luck feeding your kids. Cafeteria closes so you end up having to pay double for food. - 1 star
- Umpires are not good and take the fun out of the game for the kids. Many instances of umpires overstepping their boundaries. You almost feel like they are incentivized to call strikes and outs because there are so many teams. - 1 star
- The access is loosely monitored by staff in and out of barracks - 2 stars
- Viewing games for parents is not great. They pigeon hole you along right and left field lines. 1 star
Driving in it really does feel like a dream as you can see most of the vast campus. However as the week progressed it really felt like a get you in, get you out processing plant.
The highlight of our trip was seeing hall of fame and hanging with families outside the facility.
